Two Shot On Rawleigh Avenue Tuesday Evening, Shooter(s) Still On The Loose

Freeport, Illinois — Two Freeport men sustain non-life threatening injuries after multiple gunshots are fired into a residence in the 1600 block of South Rawleigh Avenue.

On November 14th 2017, at approximately 10:41pm, Freeport Police Officers responded to a home in the 1600 block of S. Rawleigh Avenue in reference to a report of shots fired. At the home that was struck by gunfire, officers subsequently found a 25 year-old Freeport man and a 27 year-old Freeport man both suffering from non-life threatening gunshot injuries. The 25 year-year old victim was transported to Freeport Health Network (FHN) Memorial Hospital and then later transferred to an area hospital for further treatment. The 27 year-old victim was treated for a single gunshot wound and released from FHN Memorial Hospital.

The ensuing investigation revealed that unknown assailant(s) who were on foot in the area intentionally fired multiple gunshots into an occupied room at the back of a residence in the 1600 block of S. Rawleigh Avenue. It is believed that this was not a random act of violence; rather subjects inside the home that was struck by the gunfire were most likely specifically targeted.
