Freeport, Illinois – The Freeport Housing Authority Workforce Development Institute [WDI] will graduate participants with a Certificate of Workforce Readiness from the current WDI classes. The WDI is successful in connecting graduates with employment. You are invited to join us for the graduation Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 3:30 pm at The Wagner House, 1 E Spring Street, Freeport, Illinois. RSVP is appreciated by contacting Brenda Westfall at firstname.lastname@example.org or 815-232-4171 ext 1012.
The WDI has a purpose to help identify Freeport as a “workforce ready community” and promote self-sufficiency. WDI is open to the public and serves the unemployed through employability skills and specialized trainings and referred employees by local employers to improve employee performance. The curriculum covers positive attitude and behavior, adaptability, responsibility, professionalism, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. Through communication with local employers, these are skills that are lacking in the workforce and thus anyone with these skills will have a competitive advantage to more successfully secure and maintain employment.
All participants take the Work Keys and Talent Assessments and establish goals for progress to be evaluated during the WDI program. Successful completers of the 72-hour WDI Program earn a Certificate of Workforce Readiness that is recognized by local employers in additio to the Work Keys Certificate. An eligible participant is anyone 17 years or older willing to sign the WDI Participation Agreement.
Cost is $300 per individual, which includes the Assessments and all materials. The application and additional information can be found on www.freeporthousing.org under the Career Opportunities/WDI tab.
