Freeport, Illinois – Well, it’s official. Your favorite Art Studio, Tattoo parlor and local graphic design company Zealous Art Studio & Tattoo and Elliott Graphix is moving to a new location. By the sounds of it, the community is pretty excited to hear the news.
On September 1st, 2016 ironically enough on the same date Edward A. Blust was born in 1862, the place below, located at 653 W Stephenson St. will be the home of Zealous Art Studio and Tattoo and Elliott Graphix. Owners told us their projected open date is September 1st and the location chosen, has a little Freeport history to boot.
Edward A. Blust, whose home will be the new Zelous location, was reared in the city of Freeport and attended the parochial and public schools in pursuit of an education. A native of Freeport Mr. Blust was born in Freeport Sept. 1, 1862, a son of George F. and Mary Heck. Blust was known as the owner of the E. A. Blust department store, 10 East Main Street.
At the age of 21 years he established his own business and continuously operated it for more than 66 years. He was one of the most ardent religious workers among the Catholic laymen of this community.
First securing a position as a clerk in the dry-goods store of Donaldson & Grove, Blust later worked in that capacity for other concerns. In 1883, feeling that his experience justified him in embarking in business on his own account, he opened a small dry-goods establishment and in the intervening years built up an extensive and profitable trade. Edward A. Blust died at the age of 86.
Now today, a new business carries on in new fashion as another generation of the entrepreneurial spirit in Freeport conducts its business among the same walls of our past.
Congratulations to Zealous Art Studio & Tattoo and to both Josh and Jamie Elliot. We look forward to celebrating in your new location in our city.
